The Narrative for Our Psychological Horror

Our film’s main character is Mary-Anne who is stalked by a man called Dennis. Mary-Anne lives a typical, happy life with her husband, John and their daughter Lizzie. At the start of the film Mary-Anne’s mother dies, this affects Mary-Anne a lot as she had a very close relationship with her mother.
In one scene at the start of the film Mary-Anne lays flowers at her mother’s grave, in the background we see a man, observing Mary-Anne nad being disrespectful towards her mothers grave. This disturbs her, and she approaches the man to find out who he is – as he replies he grabs and shakes her and says “you should know who I am!”
Mary-Anne thinks nothing of this until strange things start happening to her – she believes she is being watched: she keeps receiving knocks at the door and no one is there and she keeps seeing the same van near her house. As soon as she looks outside at it, however, the van drives away. (Other strange things will happen to her throughout the course of the film, driving her to the edge of lunacy, however, this isn’t shown in the trailer.)
To make matters worse, her husband, John, leaves the house after a heated arguement he has with Mary-Anne. She tells her John about her stalker, but he doesn’t believe her, and thinks she is still just mourning over the death of her mother.  about her being stalked. Since their relationship has been crumbling away since the death of Mary-Anne’s mother, this is when their relationship is at it’s worst. Mary-Anne continues to become increasingly paranoid about what is happening to her and now without John in the home she feels extremely scared. That evening, she is awoken by noises in the house and she hopes that John has returned. She calls his name and goes into her daughter’s room to check she’s ok. There is no response from anyone when she calls for him, so she goes back to her bedroom. When she returns her bedroom is messy and her window is wide open so she knows someone has been in the house. She looks outside and faintly sees a man running off in a black leather jacket, similar to the one the man at the graveyard was wearing (it is Dennis).
John has been missing for a few days. Mary-Anne is worried because he hasn’t been returning her calls or coming home, but hasn’t rung the police as she thinks he’s just simply left her for good. Even though her life is falling apart and she is on the verge of lunacy she wants to make sure that Lizzie still has a stable and functioning home and mother. She goes out to the shop to get some milk, but she is in a rush and is already distressed, so she leaves her car door unlocked by accident. She receives a call whilst walking back to her car from her daughter but she cannot hear her as it is a broken and crackling line, all she can make out is: “mum....dad.....home.....he’s....brother”, (John is home, and has figured out what’s gone on, and needs to tell Mary-Anne, but he has been tortured so much, he can barely speak) to which she responds franctically “look I’m coming home now, just sit tight I’ll be there in a second.”
When she gets back into her car she adjusts her mirror and she can see Dennis’ eyes glaring at her in the mirror from the back of the car. He kidnaps her, takes her to a disused warehouse and reveals to her that he is in fact her half brother that their mother put up for adoption before she was bor, as he was a ‘mistake’. He killed their mother for what she did to him when he was young, and now Mary-Anne is next in line to be killed because he is jealous of her perfect family upbringing, and that she has an idyllic family life now she is an adult. He tortures Mary-Anne but she devises a plan to kill him and escape. As he is about to sexually abuse her she realises the woman who she really is, she does not have a twisted mind like her half brother, and she is a survivor. She teases him and tries to make him believe that she is enjoying his seductive games. As he climbs on top of her she grabs a weapon that he’d been using to torture her, Mary-Anne is so close to death but she manages to push her away from him and she snaps his neck. The final scene shows police cars, ambulances and people turning up as she is walking out of the warehouse calmly and silently, with a stern facial expression.
